Getting Xilinx ISE to Work on Windows 10

Unfortunately, Xilinx ISE does not officially support Windows 8 or newer and likely will not due to the shift from ISE to Vivado. Fortunately enough, there’s an easy fix to keep you up and running. The below steps were performed on Windows 10 x64.

1. Open the following directory: C:\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS\ISE\lib\nt64
2. Find and rename libPortability.dll to libPortability.dll.bak
3. Make a copy of libPortabilityNOSH.dll in the same directory and rename the new file as libPortability.dll to replace the file in step 2.
4. Make a second copy of libPortabilityNOSH.dll but paste it into C:\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS\common\lib\nt64
5. Repeat step 2 by creating a backup of the libPortability.dll found in this folder.
6. Rename libPortabilityNOSH.dll to libPortability.dll

Once this is done you should be able to run Xilinx ISE and Impact without issue.
